Hearts of Oak Set to Release Two Key Players

Accra Hearts of Oak have not been at their best this season despite claiming a treble last term.

The club, under coach Samuel Boadu has been a pale shadow of itself in the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League, churning out mixed results. Hearts of Oak won the league last season with 61 points as against rivals, Asante Kotoko’s 57 points at the end of last season. The Phobians came out with the best performances in the MTN FA Cup where they claimed the title in addition to the league title. The Phobians went all the way to the finals and managed to win the title ahead of fellow premier league side, AshantiGold.

Hearts of Oak played out a goalless draw at the Accra Sports Stadium and equally exhausted the extra time. The Phobians won the penalty shootouts over AshantiGold after a marathon kick where it ended 8-7 in favour of the Phobians. This season has however been bad for the Phobians as they are not lying too good on the table as defending champions. They currently sit 6th on the table with 37 points from 25 games in the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season.

Reports in the media indicate that, the technical team is not happy with the performance of some key players and will want offload them at the end of the season. Captain Fatawu Mohammed and striker, Kofi Kordzi are reportedly heading out other club but the club is yet to officially make an announcement.
