Will Smith stunned the world during the 2022 Oscars when he approached host Chris Rock and delivered him a hard slap for making jokes about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s poor condition. His actions and the resulting backlash have reignited questions about how far men should go to protect their spouses.

“I appreciate his noble gesture of wanting to protect me, but I’m going to be furious with him.” What if he is hurt in the course of fighting for me? It does not speak well of him; I may even leave the scene since I will be humiliated.”

“He won’t even give it a go.” I despise being embarrassed, and if he continues to do this, I may leave the relationship.”
