Local fashion designer Lebohang “Quiteria” Kekana was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a cancer that forms in plasma cells in July 2021. Less than a year after battling cancer, the Kekana family announced the fashion designer passed away at his home in Johannesburg on Sunday, April 17.
It has been a sad day for South Africans as many heard of the passing of this incredible designer who has accomplished so much in his career in the fashion industry. He was an icon and a lot of people looked up to him for inspiration, he owned his own fashion line known as Quiteria Atelier. He has worked with so many stars in Mzansi as well as the international star known as Beyonce’.
Celebrities like Mapula Molefe were left saddened by this designer’s passing as they have worked together hand in hand. Mapula shared throw back pictures with the designer as she captioned her post:”I never knew how fierce i could be until i worked with Q he helped me find a different kind of confidence in myself and for that i will always always be grateful.
His talent was undeniable and it was always such a pleasure to be his muse. My heart goes out to his family and friends. Rest In Peace Lord @quiteria_kekana”. Her post touched a lot of people’s hearts while leaving many other shattered. This is indeed a very painful day for many of people who knew this talented and successful designer. May his soul rest in peace, his work will never be forgotten and his legacy will live on.
