Check out Accra Hearts of Oak’s position after Matchday 25 in the GPL as compared to last season

Reigning Ghana Premier League, GPL champions Accra Hearts of Oak cannot be happy with their performance in the ongoing campaign as they seek to retain their title.

The Phobians are a massive 15 points behind leaders Asante Kotoko after 25 matches, and, with nine games to end the season, they will need a massive drop in form from Asante Kotoko for them to win the title again this season.

After 25 matches, Hearts of Oak has 37 points and sit in sixth position on the log in the ongoing 2021-22 campaign.

At the same stage last season, the Phobians had amassed 43 points and were in second position as they leapfrogged the Porcupines to win the title when the competition ended.

Their current stage indicates that they have accumulated six points less than what they had managed at this same stage last season.

The Phobians have massive work to do if they are able to negotiate their way up the table as the matches are running out.

And, they will also need those above them on the table to drop points in these last nine games to stand in with a chance of winning the title.

Coach Samuel Boadu and his colleagues at the bench for the Phobians, have a huge task on their shoulders if they are to turn things around with the season running out.

The performance of Hearts of Oak this season, has not gone according to what they planned for and, it is looking increasingly likely that they will lose their title to their great rivals at the end of the campaign.

Hearts of Oak failed to beat bottom side Elmina Sharks in their last game at the Accra Sports Stadium last Sunday, leaving some to write off their chances completely of winning the title.

They have a game coming up against Accra Lions on Sunday in a capital derby at the Accra Sports Stadium and, they will look to bounce back to winning ways as their title defence looks to be fizzling out.
