Uhuru’s Cousin Reveals How Raila Denied Them a Meeting to Mediate Reconciliation With DP Ruto

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s first cousin, Kung’u Muigai, patron of the National Council of Elders, has revealed how ODM leader Raila Odinga declined their invitation to meet with him.

The council, comprised of elders from Kenya’s 42 communities, was concerned about the growing schism between President Uhuru, Raila, and DP Ruto.

Kung’u told the Standard that there was some disagreement about President Uhuru’s succession during a council meeting.

The council believed that by abandoning DP Ruto in favor of Raila, President Uhuru had broken his promise to support his presidency.

Elders from the Luo community, on the other hand, claimed that Uhuru was correct to back Raila, citing the fact that the presidency was not only reserved for Kikuyus and Kalenjins.

After hours of deliberation, it was finally agreed that it was President Uhuru’s responsibility to keep his promise to DP Ruto, and that everyone was obligated to respect the decision.

According to the patron of the council, President Uhuru has yet to approach them and explain why he chose to shortchange Ruto in favor of Raila.

They are aware of a government formed by Uhuru-Ruto, and they see no reason for Uhuru to withdraw his support for Ruto.

The elders offered to mediate between Uhuru, Raila, and Ruto in order to heal a schism that had previously existed.

They first approached Raila Odinga, the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance flagbearer, seeking a meeting.

However, their efforts were in vain. Raila, they claimed, ignored their request and provided no explanation for his refusal to meet with them.
