Lugari Member of Parliament Hon Ayub Savula ditched Musalia Mudavadi’s Amani National Congress after he joined Deputy President William Ruto under the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

Savula joined Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa’s DAP-K Party and was made the Deputy Party Leader.

Last year, Savula declared his interest for the Kakamega gubernatorial seat. Incumbent Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya is almost finishing his second term in office.

Wamalwa’s Party has now settled on the Lugari legislator as its flag bearer for the Kakamega’s top seat in the forthcoming general elections. The news was announced by the Party’s leadership when they were holding a presser.

Deputy Governor Kutima who was also eying the seat has shelved his ambition in favor of Savula.

The race to succeed Oparanya has also attracted Senator Cleophas Malala and ODM’s Fernandes Barasa. In Trans Nzoia County, Former Rift Valley Regional Coordinator will be the gubernatorial candidate.
