Breaking: Hearts of Oak’s Experienced Midfielder Rejects Contract Renewal

Ghana Premier League champions, Hearts of Oak are set to lose one of their prized asset in the next transfer window.

Hearts of Oak have endured a torrid season despite being treble winners from last term. The Phobians claimed the league at the expense of rivals, Asante Kotoko before seeing off AshantiGold to win their 11th FA Cup title at the Accra Sports Stadium. The double win automatically made the millennium champions the Super Cup winners as that competition is played between the league and FA Cup winners. The Phobians have not been at their better selves this season where they have raked home nine victories, nine draws and six defeats in the 2021/22 league season.

The Phobians have also qualified for the semi finals of the MTN FA Cup and head coach, Samuel Boadu spoke about their 1-0 win against Skyy FC. “As I said earlier, playing with a lower division team, it will be a very difficult thing. “If you didn’t take care, they will punish you so I think it’s ok,” Samuel Boadu told StarTimes. “We have to be mentally tough, psychologically we shouldn’t underrate any club that we are playing with.

“Either it’s a colt[juvenile] team or whatever, play your heart out, let’s play with the tactics employed in the game. “We shouldn’t underrate them, that cost us.” Samuel Boadu added. The 21 time league champions currently sit 6th on the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League table with 36 points from 24 games. News in the media indicate that, midfielder, Frederick Ansah Botchway will not renew his contract with the club due to lack of playing time.
