The Ghanaian music industry enjoyed heatwaves from some musical tags around 2015 and 2019 which many lovers of good music hoped would stay together but this never happened as these tags broke up through one way or another. These collaborators included hip hop and hi life act, Pappy Kojo, Joey B, EL, Kojo Cue, and Shaker.
Pappy Kojo’s tag partner was Joey B while Kojo Cue and Shaker joined to form the “Pen and Paper” gang. Rapper EL was joined with Pappy Kojo, Joey B, Kojo Cue, and Shaker at BBnz Live. Below are how these strongholds grew and broke out in the industry:
BBnZ Live
BBnZ Live was a record label where rappers Joey B, Kojo Cue, Pappy Kojo, Shaker, and EL were signed. This record label did great work in it’s bloom around 2015 and the first collaboration which featured all these signees, “All Black” made huge waves all over the country and beyond and other songs like
“Madakraa” by Shaker and Kojo Cue, and “Halleluyah” by EL also took the country by storm. Unfortunately, BBnZ Live broke and all these acts went their separate ways to make it and even though they still made waves, it was not as much as when they were united.
Pappy Kojo and Joey B
When it comes to Ghanaian hip hop evolution, the names of Joey B and Pappy Kojo cannot be left out as they made huge waves in the country with their partnership. Their first collaboration, “Realer No” blew the whole country away and they showed how strong they were together by releasing hit song after hit song together. One of their song’s “Greetings From
Abroad”, which was a blend of hip hop and hi life went far and wide and Ghanaians expected more from this duo but they sadly broke up with unknown reasons. Even though Pappy and Joey broke up year’s ago, Ghanaians are still hoping they make up and come back stronger.
Shaker and Kojo Cue
The story of Kojo Cue and Lil’ Shaker is one Ghanaians can never forget as their team up brought big changes in the Ghanaian music industry. The duo who became popularly known as “Pen and Paper”, a new they got after their joint album “Pen and Paper” went over the bar. Songs off their joint album like “Up and Awake”, “Unity”, “Things We Do 4 Love”, and “Mama Yie” received great recognition in the country. Kojo Cue and Shaker broke up after the two left their former record label, BBnZ Live.
