Foreigners Will Stay In SA And Be Employed By Government Aslong As South Africans Do Not Do This| Opinion
The immigration crisis in South Africa has gotten to a peak and South Africans are fed up. The last few weeks movements such as Operation Dudula and #PutSouthAfricansFirst have taken to the streets to show how serious they are about the course.
The immigration crisis has also gotten the attention of prominent Ministers such as Thandi Modise and Aaron Motsoaledi who have also spoken against the ills brought by illegal immigrants in the country. However, South Africans have to accept that foreigners will remain in the country, especially those with documentation and they will be employed by the government.
One of the reasons for the formations of the movements against foreigners is the fact that South Africans believe that foreigners are employed where as they are not employed and they have the correct qualifications. Aaron Motsoaledi released a critic skills list on the second of February this year which stipulates that foreigners will be employed if they have the skills listed, the qualifications and also work visas.
Sadly, the list also includes skills and qualifications that most South Africans could simply have. Such as teaching in STEM subjects which include Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. On a yearly basis, thousands of students go varsity to study but looking at the list, it seems they are pursuing wring careers. Unfortunately the government and private companies will continue to hire these people as long as South Africans can’t provide the qualifications needed.
The only way that South Africans can be able to get rid of foreigners and get employed in those areas of study, is to get enrolled in those courses, work hard so that they do not have to point at their jobs being taken by foreign nationals. Science and Mathematics are important and as South Africans we should make it known to the next generations so that they do not have to suffer the things that we, the current generation, are suffering from.
