Bad News For South Africans Who Do Not Want Zimbabweans Employed As Teachers In Schools, They Are Going Nowhere.
It has been several weeks since the formation of the Operation Dudula movement. While we might have thought that the movements would lose pace and die out, it seems the movement is gaining more momentum however, there is bad news as foreign teachers in SA schools are allowed to be employed there according to the newly gazette of critical skills in South Africa.
Prominent names such as Herman Mashaba have come out to speak on the employment of foreign nationals in government schools. Furthermore, people have been complaining that the employed foreigners make it hard for children to understand and pass subjects such as Mathematics as they usually struggle with the accent from the foreign nationals.
Unfortunately, these foreigners will not be going anywhere, especially if they have work visas and specialize in STEM subjects which are Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The newly gazette of critical skills that are needed in South Africa states that foreigners can be employed as teacher for these subjects provided that they have work visas, required qualifications and SACE.
While the foreign teachers that qualify for the job in public schools could disadvantage others, the critical skills list also sheds some light on what South Africans need to do in order to fill those jobs. They need to enrol in courses that provide the qualifications and get experience even if one needs to volunteer before having experience. It’s not easy but can always be done.
Employment of foreigners can only end if South Africans get the right qualifications to be employed in those positions. If we want to end the immigration crisis, we cannot only end it through the eviction of poor foreigners in our neighborhoods. Perhaps maybe this is something that should be made known to the upcoming generations which will be going to varsity.
