Being proud of your mother tongue is one of the recommendable things ever. However, we should know that as South Africans we are differed into many languages and that usually causes communication to be a bit difficult, which is why it is highly recommendable for one to speak English whenever speaking to someone who doesn’t speak or understand your language.
Well, there are those people who are hardheaded in such a way that they never want to speak any other languages except for their mother tongues/ home languages. There are those South African celebrities who never speak English, even in serious interviews on TV which are being watched by all the different language groups.

1. Big Zulu
Siyabonga Nene professionally known by the name ‘Big Zulu’ is a KwaZulu-Natal born rapper, best known for his 2020 hitting track ‘Imali Eningi’ which had lot of lover countrywide and other African countries.
Have you ever heard Big Zulu uttering a single simple English sentence? No! He never speaks nor write in English, even his social media captions are written in Zulu. Not so long ago he left Mzansi amazed after being interviewed by MacG on Podcast and Chill, he was responding in Zulu, he never even uttered a single English word whereas MacG doesn’t fully understand Zulu. MacG even said that he understood half of the interview, since Big Zulu kept on speaking his de Zulu.
2. Thembinkosi Mthembu
He plays the character of Mabutho on the 1Magic’s telenovela; The River. All along I’ve been thinking that the reason why ‘Mabutho’ never speaks English on The River it is because he is uneducated. Well, it turned out that he also never speaks it even in real life.
Thembinkosi (27 years old) was invited to the reality show; ‘Living the dream with Somizi’ he was cooking with Somizi and he kept on speaking Zulu. Even his Instagram posts are captioned in Zulu. I’ve come to realise that he actually never speaks English.
3. Lungelo Mpangase
She is best known for playing the character of ‘Khethiwe’ on the Mzansi Magic’s mini drama series; eHostela.
This 26 year old KZN born star prefers speaking her Zulu without a problem. She also plays the role of Ntokozo/ Iminathi on the Mzansi Magic’s mini drama series; Mzali wami. Have you ever heard her speaking English? She’s always speaking Zulu, pure one.
4. Mondli Makhoba
He has played multiple number of roles in different South African movies, soapies or drama series, and none of them he has ever spoken English, he is always shining with his massive Zulu accent.
This 43 year old KwaZulu-Natal born star is currently playing the character of Nkosana on the Showmax drama series; The Wife. Whenever Mondli speaks to his fans via videos, he only speaks Zulu and that bothers others who don’t understand Zulu.
5. Thobani Nzuza
He used to play the character of Khehla on the SABC 1’s popular soapie; Uzalo. He also played the character of ‘Mndeni’ on the Mzansi Magic’s mini drama series; eHostela.
This 28 year old KZN born star is one of those people who loves captioning their posts in Zulu. Even onscreen, he never speaks English, he’s always speaking pure Zulu.
