Chaungeni1 is a University student at the University of Free State. Yesterday Chaungeni1 shared a picture or screenshoot of his conversations with his landlord demanding rent money. Chaungeni1 promised the landlord to pay on the 20/2, but he still failed to pay.
Chaungeni1 is only dependent on NSFAS money as a student for survival. He said he was hoping they would get NSFAS book allowance sooner so he can pay his landlord. The book allowance amount is R5200 for every NSFAS student who is at the university.
Chaungeni1 posted his conversation with his landlord asking people to help him out with money to pay. He said he can only be able to pay it back when he get his book allowance from the University.
The sad part of his story Is, the University of Free State denied him a room on campus residences. They said he is too old for a room that’s owned by the University. Chaungeni1 look like he is in his early 30’s.
“I’m sorry if this may sound sensitive but R3000 rent is too much for a student, what are you going to do the month after you received book allowance, coz I’m sure that money won’t cover rent for the whole year, try to get a cheaper place.”, Dr Shiya adviced him.
Dr Shiya adviced him to get a cheaper place because he is only dependent on NSFAS, which will be giving him R1500 food allowance every month after his book allowance. Food allowance amount is half the money he is supposed to pay for rent. Therefore, it won’t cover rent, food too.
“You quitting school because of delayed rent? If you’re serious you will make a plan. Sell something if you have to. Or take it to cash crusaders for short loan. Hebanna.”, Sbu said.
