Freedom Park horrors: Grade 12 learner hit by taxi and loses life on scene

Residents of Freedom Park are no strangers to bad news. On today’s latest horrors, a Grade 12 male learner from Freedom Park Secondary School was hit by a car. He was heading to Bhongo Secondary School for SSIP classes. He died on the scene.
His identity was not communicated in the community group.
The accident happened at the intersection of Kliptown and Dlamini. The disturbing part is that the taxi driver attempted to flee the scene.
Accidents happen all the time but knowing that this accident happened in full speed and the driver tried to run off is upsetting. I can’t help but be angry that had the driver not been so fast in a residential area with a lot of pedestrians, the young man’s life could have been spared. Again, why would he try to run off? The family is already shattered that their son passed away in such a gruesome manner, but to know that the man responsible for his death wanted to dodge the consequences of his actions is even more sickening.
He was later apprehended and taken to Eldorado Park police station.
May his soul rest in peace and may justice take its course.
