Parents and School governing body supported by teachers were protesting today against overcrowding at their school. The parents says the department of education has failed their children to receive good quality education. They say their children are learning outside classrooms because they don’t have enough classes at their school.
They say the problem started after the labour department inspected their school in 2019 and found out that most of their classrooms are not in good condition and advised them not to use those classrooms.Since then they have been applying for mobile classes to accommodate grades that were affected.
They went to bohlabela district offices for help but nothing has been done. They also went to Mpumalanga offices of MEC of education in Nelspruit but Kellina Gule is playing hide and seek with them. The parents of Lepodi primary school in Mashishing are very concerned about the education of their children. It became worse when they introduced grade R because we were forced to make way for the little one.The children are struggling to concentrate because of movemens of other pupils at the school. We were forced to overcrowd other classrooms and now teaching under those circumstances are hard.
What we are asking for the department is mobile classrooms nothing else.Mr DB Ndlovu of the infrastructure has failed to deliver his promises, says one parents who didn’t want to be named. Our bundle of joy can’t study in overcrowded classrooms,it really hard to make one concentrate.
