Queen Latifah, an American actress and rapper, has moved South African actress Pearl Thusi to tears after she sent her a shout-out complimenting her work in the industry, specifically her acting in “Queen Sono.”
Thusi, who couldn’t believe her eyes, posted a video of herself crying while watching Latifah’s shout-out on Instagram.
Pearl Thusi, what’s up? This is Queen Latifah, just wanted to give you a shout-out sister and let you know you are strong, you bad, you know,” Latifah said.
“I’m watching you. I’m watching you do your thing. Keep doing your thing, and maybe one day we’ll do something together that’ll be hot,” Latifah said.
A tearful Thusi, who recorded herself, couldn’t believe Queen Latifah knew who she was.
“She’s definitely talking about me, heck,” she said after watching it a second time. I can’t, I can’t, I can’t.
“I also need to talk to myself about why I’m recording myself crying, because that’s weird,” she said before breaking down in tears.
In the caption that accompanied the video, Thusi explained why this shout-out meant so much to her.
“The pain I’ve been through in the last two years is something I’ve hidden so well,” she explained.
Losing my father, heartbreak, the cancellation of QS, and watching people celebrate while the sting from something out of my control continued to burn… And just when I thought one of the most epic weeks of my life was coming to an end,
She expressed her gratitude and humility for everything good that had happened in the previous week.
“I’m sorry that I’ve doubted myself and thus God in recent months.”
“And he hasn’t stopped blessing me so abundantly this week.” “I can’t stop sobbing-but I’m doing it in private in first class on @emirates,” Thusi wrote.
She recalled seeing Jada Pinkett Smith and Queen Latifah at the BET Awards and getting down on her knees to greet them.
“There was no picture because it didn’t feel right-I wanted more than just a picture.” I just told myself that one day I wanted them to know my name and that one day I wanted to work with them. I simply thanked them for being an inspiration to me. They humbly took my hands in theirs and nodded.
