Zimbabweans rejoice after this was announced but SANs are not happy about it

“We, the South African people, are the legitimate owners of this land! Why do you grant people permits without consulting us, the citizens, to determine whether or not we want those people to remain in our country?”

Among other methods, a handful of the enraged South Africans who believe Zimbabweans should return home have expressed themselves in this manner.

Earlier this year, the government stated that it will prolong until the end of 2022 the Zimbabwean exemption permit (ZEP) provided to Zimbabwean citizens.

In his capacity as Minister of Home Affairs, Aron Motsoaledi has chosen to extend the exemption in order to allow people who hold it to apply for visas.

Some argue that this 12-month timeframe is an insult to unemployed South Africans. According to an anonymous Twitter user, “a government that tells its citizens they must remain poor for longer while assuring that only a small number of them ever rise above poverty is a government that should be removed from office.”

We are still defending and defaulting on a system of law and order established by ourselves to manage criminality in South Africa, and the number of laws broken is incomprehensible.
