Normally darker colors has a lot of components that goes into the process of their production..
I.e. to make a black paint you need to mix all primary colors hence its normally expensive.
lot of these major retailers were started during boma 19 mang mang when their customers were solely the White population. Since then, they’ve done VERY little to accommodate the majority. And when they do, like here, they punish us by charging exorbitant prices
Not only that but they’ll do very little to accommodate Black people further because they probably fear backlash from their “main customers”. So Black people are often times forced to use products that aren’t even well suited for them
Sometimes you’ll find that they don’t have your correct shade and you’ll end up resorting to buying 2 shades to mix so it matches your skin tone. It’s definitely seeded in colourism. Why are darker shades hard to find and expensive?
