There were 2 489 new Covid-19 positive cases on Saturday evening

The latest information that was released by the National Institute for Communicable Diseases showed that there were 2 489 new Covid-19 positive cases that were recorded around the country . As a result of the figure recorded , the total number of positive cases that have been recorded now stands at 3 640 162 . This was after there were a total of 32 903 tests that were conducted in private and public institutions . The positivity rate for the country on Saturday was low , as it was on 7.6% . The number of fatalities however stood at 9 on Saturday the 12th of February 2022 . There are more than 96 000 fatalities that have been recorded in South Africa since the pandemic was detected in South Africa in 2020 . The good news is that there are measures such as wearing masks , avoiding crowded spaces , sanitising and keeping spces well ventilated as part of ways to curb the spread of the pandemic .
