Covid-19| Good news as the daily cases start to decrease

Covid-19 has become a part of our everyday life, we check the Covid-19 stats and numbers of new infections on a daily basis. Our live are now determined by the infection rate and how up or down the numbers are.

The lockdown levels imposed are normally controlled by how the infection rate is. numbers are high, then the lockdown restrictions are bound to be strict but when the numbers are low the restrictions are eased.

So far the country has been through four waves of the virus, each wave was driven a different variant.

It looks like the country is out if the fourth wave that began at the end of November, the fourth wave was driven by the Omicron variant and had cases go up through the festive season. However, the number of cases have shown a huge decline since the end of January.

The country has recorded 1 649 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of Covid-19 cases to 3 640 162. The past day there have been 2 Covid-19 related deaths recorded,which makes the total number of Covid-19 related deaths 96 993.

The number of recoveries currently stands at 3 502 319, and there is currently 42 499 active cases and a positivity rate of 8.1%.

Opinion

This is good news to the country, this means that the country is slowly going back to normal. The fight is against Covid-19 is not yet won, there is still a long way to go but so far there is progress.

The vaccination program is still underway and the number of people who are vaccinated increases everyday. This helps in the fight against Covid-19.

Please remember to wear a mask in public places, sanitize regularly, maintain a social distance and avoid crowded places.
