PSG vs Real Madrid
The match between Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid on Tuesday has a lot of interesting tales. Keylor Navas and Achraf Hakimi are both former Real Madrid players, as is Sergio Ramos, who will miss the first leg against Los Blancos. Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with the Madrid position in the past. In the summer, Kylian Mbappe is anticipated to join Real Madrid, while Neymar and Leo Messi are both ex-Barcelona players. Karim Benzema, the finest player in La Liga after Lionel Messi’s departure, plays for Real Madrid. Vinicius Junior has also stepped up his game, and he’ll be looking to beat his Brazilian counterpart Neymar on Tuesday.
This season, PSG has a strong home record. They’ve won 14 of their 16 games across all competitions and haven’t conceded at the Parc des Princes since early December. Madrid, on the other hand, has a comfortable lead at the top of La Liga, but has only won one of their last four games. Benzema’s absence has been significant at the top of the pitch throughout that time, and while he is due to return on Tuesday, he is unlikely to be in great shape after just taking part in parts of training on Sunday.
Sporting vs Man City
Sporting CP finished second in their Champions League group, behind Ajax but ahead of Borussia Dortmund, to set up a knockout meeting with Premier League leaders Manchester City. This is basically their final chance to win this season, as they are unlikely to catch Porto in the Portuguese league after their 2-2 tie at the weekend.
Manchester City will attempt to break their European duck once more this season, and have been assigned a favorable knockout tie against Sporting Lisbon, the defending Portuguese champions. Sporting cannot be underestimated, especially with a skilled coach like Ruben Amorim at the helm, but they are overwhelming favourites here.
City has won 18 of their past 20 games in all competitions, but they have lost two of their three away games in the Champions League group stage and have surrendered in each of their last five away games. Sporting may take heart from the result, but City should carry a lead back to the Etihad for the return leg.
