Although, the July Governorship election in Osun State is considerably going to be a close contest between the ruling party in the State, All Progressives Congress (APC), and the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), however the opposition within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) may likely paint the election with historic colorations.
Looking at the severe political contest for the Governorship ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, the chances of the former Executive Governor of the State and the current Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola, to survive the impending political uncertainties, ahead of his political clique in the ruling party.
It is certain that there is a severe political crisis between the former Executive Governor of Osun State and the current Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola, and his successor in Osun State, Governor Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola.
The political rift between Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola and incumbent Governor of Osun State, Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola has, unfortunately, divided the Osun State Chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) into two factions.
A faction of the Osun State Chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is paying loyalty to the former Executive Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola, while the main body of the party is loyal to the Executive Governor of the state, Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola.
Consequently, the political clique of Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola has decided to drag the Governorship ticket of APC in Osun State, with the Executive Governor of the State, who is willing to contest for second term in Office.
However, with the present political situation in the state’s chapter of APC, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola may be liable to face some political uncertainties, except he retract and adopt the second term ambition of Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola.
Arguable though, the political acceptability of Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola and the record of achievements he has, impressively, earned over the past few years seem to have overpowered the political influence of Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola in the state.
Sincerely, for Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola to restore his political proficience in Osun State, he may need to prevail on his political loyalists to forgo their governorship aspirations, which is as a result of their strict opposition against the Governor; embrace peace to reign in the party and work, assiduously, for the progress of the party and victory of Governor Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola in the July 16th, Governorship Election in Osun State.
