It’s time Manchester United players criticize their performances rather than play the card of blaming their manager for their poor form. That was said because ESPN reported that a section of the Manchester United squad is frustrated with Ralf Rangnick’s training methods which they believe is old-fashioned and doesn’t help to keep them sharp between games.

Rangnick’s training methods may be old-fashioned as suggested by those players, but it is hard to believe it is the sole reason for their poor form as they also didn’t perform too well under former managers Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who they all found wanting.
Yes, it can be argued that Solskjaer was inexperienced but the same cannot be said about Louis van Gaal or Jose Mourinho. The latter was a 3-time Premier League champion and had won the Champions League twice before he joined the Red Devils in May 2016.
Rangnick’s tactic and “old-fashioned” training method are the reason the team is no longer conceding too many goals as they did at the beginning of this season. They have not scored enough goals either, but the blame is not entirely on him as the team creates good goal-scoring chances but fails to take advantage of them.
Stats show that the team had 22 shots in their last Premier League match against Burnley but they only scored once. Also, Burnley’s second-half equaliser was due to an individual error and not a tactical mistake by the manager.
It was also the same in their FA Cup match against Middlesbrough because they would have not been knocked out if Cristiano Ronaldo scored his penalty and Bruno Fernandes did not miss an open goal.
All that shows the players are wrong to have solely blamed Rangnick for the poor results. For me, this time they should be more critical of themselves rather than blaming their manager’s training methods.
