Jean-Michel Aulas still believes in Jason Denayer’s extension –

Olympique Lyonnais risk losing Jason Denayer this summer if the club fail to extend the Belgian defender’s contract. Trained at Manchester City, he had a string of loans before being sold by Skyblues to OL in 2018. The 26-year-old player, currently injured, could be looking for a new challenge at the end of the season. The ball is in his court when it comes to a contract extension. The Rhone President, Jean-Michel Aulas returned to this situation, in remarks transcribed in Progresssaying there is still hope but that the club have their backs in case of disappointment.

“We have not given up on extending Jason Denayer. The ball is in his court, I had it personally, we knew he was injured. After Vincent (Ponsot) found the basis for discussion with the agents, I spoke personally with Jason. He simply told me that he doesn’t say no, he doesn’t say yes right away, he wants to finish his rehabilitation. So I think it’s pretty close to recovery. It may be a bit tight on Saturday but for the next match (in Lens), he should be with us in the group. So here it is, there are still chances of extending it, and then as we are planning, we have activated other avenues.
