Prof Gyampo- When Our Very Source Of Livelihood Is Threatened, We Cannot Be Meek

Professor Ransford Gyampo, a lecturer at the University of Ghana who double as University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) Secretary has expressed that the very source of livelihood is threatened, they cannot be meek.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Thursday, February 3rd 2022. He wrote;”UTAG, we are calm, respectful and law abiding. But like any human group, when pushed to the wall, we do not enter the wall. When our very source of livelihood is threatened, we cannot be meek. We can also be tough and resilient.”

The comments of Prof Gyampo comes as a background to the ongoing strike embarked by UTAG. Various meetings with government has been futile. The National Labour Commission dragged UTAG to court but the court has ordered for negotiations.

Many people has reacted to Prof Gyampo’s comment. Some are in support of UTAG’s strike.

Some said that, It appears that the court has given the government another window of opportunity to do better negotiations with UTAG to ensure amicable resolution. There are some economic difficulties but the biggest problem largely is about misplaced priorities.
