Tight boxers would not be the best for your health and your ability to procreate. That’s why!
Gentlemen, if you want to be able to procreate, you will seriously have to think about no longer wearing tight boxers or panties that are a little too tight. Indeed, a recent study conducted by researchers from the reproductive assistance service of Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and published in the journal Human Reproduction, affirms that it is absolutely necessary to favour underpants that are a little looser. The reason? According to scientists, a man wearing boxer shorts has 33% more mobile sperm!
A 17-year-long study!
In order to support their point, these scientists detailed their study which lasted no less than 17 years. All in all, no less than 656 spermograms were performed. Of these 656 men, 53% claimed to wear boxers while the rest admitted to wearing boxers or tight briefs. By adjusting these data to other factors capable of having a direct influence on sperm quality (state of health, level of physical activity, smoking, etc.), the result is clear. According to the journal Human Reproduction, this study “is the first to move beyond the traditional focus on sperm quality and to include data on a multitude of indicators of testicular function, such as reproductive hormones and damage to sperm DNA.
But that’s not all. Indeed, still according to the researchers, men wearing tight underwear tend to secrete more follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). This hormone actually aims to reduce body temperature since the testicles, in order to be able to work properly, need a temperature 3 to 4 degrees lower than the rest of the body. And knowing that the tighter it is, the hotter it gets… Someone has to take care of regulating all that.
