An appointee of President Nana Addo has strongly warned Ghanaians that it’s either the government implements the E-levy or they stop the free senior high school (SHS) program, and the planting for food and jobs, among other social interventions they’ve implemented since coming to power.

The E-levy is facing stiff opposition from Ghanaians and the Minority in Parliament since its introduction in the 2022 budget statement reading. The Minority has rejected it all the times it appeared in Parliament and they’ve vowed to always reject it. The Finance Minister and the government reduced the rate of the levy from 1.75 percent to 1.50 percent but it was also rejected by the Minority of Parliament.

Now, today, an appointee of Nana Addo, the Chief Executive Officer of Public Sector Reforms, Thomas Kusi Boafo has sent an ultimatum to Ghanaians that, is either they implement the E-levy or they abolish social interventions like the Free SHS, Planting for food and jobs, among others.

Mr. Kusi Boafo who was speaking in an interview with Joy News said if Ghanaians do not want the E-levy, they should let the government cancel those social interventions as well as put a halt to employment and not pay pensions. He added that the E-levy has become necessary because the government is facing liquidity challenges.

” Government is facing serious liquidity challenges. Revenue mobilization is down so there is a huge fiscal deficit. Either E-levy comes on or we abandon the programs we are pursuing. This is a fact i’m telling you today.”

There will be no E-levy if Ghanaians admit that they don’t want free education for senior high schools, the government should not employ the people or increase their salaries, there should not be any planting for foods and jobs ” CEO, Public Sector Reforms, Kusi Boafo said.

Do you agree with him that if E-levy is not coming on then the government should scrap Free Education and other programs of this government?

Do you think this CEO has been fair to the people of Ghana??

Or do you think he’s telling us the exact truth we don’t want to know??
