The results of a survey conducted by Global Info Analytics on the E-levy are finally out. Now, we can talk with data, those who are against the E-levy and those who are for the E-levy.

The survey was conducted on a partisan basis that is New Patriotic Party (NPP) members and National Democratic Congress (NDC) members, as well as what they termed as floating members (those who don’t join either NPP or NDC and are nonpartisan). Surprisingly, NPP members had a higher number of No’s meaning even the ruling party members do not want E- levy to pass.

Global Info Analytics is a nonpartisan that provides data-driven research and insights on politics, policy, and business strategy for local and international organizations for better decision-making.

According to their survey, Seventy-three percent of Ghanaians are against the implementation of the Electronic Levy Bill popularly known as E-levy. Also, 56.35 percent of the ruling New Patriotic Party supporters sampled are against the E-levy while 86.64 percent of the National Democratic Congress supporters sampled are against the E-levy. For the floating Ghanaians that is, those who are neither NPP nor NDC, 77.51 percent are against the E-levy.

Below is the results of the survey conducted by Global Info Analytics. Green is for Yes, I support the Levy, and Red is for No, while light Blue is for ‘ no option’.

The Executive Director of Global Info Analytics, Musa Danquah while speaking to Citi News said, he wasn’t surprised with the results of the survey, just that he was expecting it to be a bit higher.

“I wasn’t surprised, but what I was surprised by was, I was expecting it to be a bit higher than what we got,” Mr. Danquah told Citi News.

The survey was conducted in 34 constituencies across the country with a sample size of 2,422 persons.

Do you agree with the outcome of the survey?

Do you think the sample size was too small?

Do you think the results for the NPP members are not the true representation?
