With less than six months remaining before the next general polls in August, Narc Kenya Party Leader Martha Karua has come out to talk about her probable partners.
Appearing on KTN News on Monday evening for an interview, Karua acknowledged that her party is ready for coalition negotiations, adding that one is already ongoing.
According to Martha Karua, the Mount Kenya Unity Forum is still alive and is a friend of the One Kenya Alliance. She revealed that there are talks going on with OKA coalition and that her party has not left out other probable partners ahead of the next general polls.
Without ruling out a likely coalition with Raila’s ODM and DP William Ruto’s UDA parties, Karua said her party is ready for negotiations with leaders leading National Political parties.
“We have inclined towards OKA, but that does not mean that we cannot as well negotiate with others, the decision of Narc Kenya will also be informed by members of the Mt Kenya Unity Forum, we are looking for a consensus before we officially make our decision in March,” she said.
She ruled out allegations that most of Mt Kenya parties were small parties that have no influence and members, adding that Kuria’s party for example, largely contributed to the success of UDA’s candidate in the Kiambaa by-election.
She weighed in on Mt Kenya Foundation, saying it is not a political party rather a group of rich businessmen who have no impact.
This comes at a time Martha Karua has been placed at a higher place to be appointed as William Ruto’s running mate in August as compared to her Mathira counterpart Rigathi Gachagua.
Asked on whether she will consider welcoming for a running mate position in One Kenya Alliance, Martha said people should not pre empt the decision of OKA and that they should wait for March of this year.
