Ghanaian politician and a medical doctor by profession, Bernard Okoe Boye has stated why he prefers working in a government hospital than a private facility.
According to the former Member of Parliament for Ledzokuku Constituency, Bernard Okoe Boye, a friend who called to check up on him posed a question to him after he told him about his work at Lekma hospital.
The friend asked “why not get some private hospital to make some more money rather than a government facility?”
Dr Okoe Boye in response said he doesn’t go to the hospital because of monetary considerations.
Dr Okoe Boye explaining why he prefers a government facility said, “as a leader, I believe you must be in a system to appreciate it’s strengths and challenges, and so I prefer a government facility so I understand the depth of our challenges and the width that the possibile solutions will take”.
He added that one must be part of the ecosystem to be able to redirect and redefine it’s potential.
Dr Okoe Boye writes;
“A friend called this morning to check on me and posed a question after telling him of working this morning at Lekma; “Why not get some private hospital to make some more money rather than a government facility?, he probed”.Â
I answered, ” I don’t go to the hospital because of monetary considerations, as a leader, I believe you must be in a system to appreciate it’s strengths and challenges, and so I prefer a government facility so I understand the depth of our challenges and the width that the possibile solutions will take . You must be part of the ecosystem to be able to redirect and redefine it’s potential .”
