The NPP’s target to curtail corruption in the country is just a thing of the past. Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President, has bragged on how they’re using digitization to tackle corruption boot for boot in the country. People may agree with Bawumia, but not me. I think Bawumia is lying.
Dr. Bawumia lectured that efforts of the government have helped decrease corruption in many stated institutions. Speaking at the ordination and consecration service of Very Reverend Dr Kotei Neequaye as the new Suffragan Bishop for the Church on Sunday (30 January), he said the church also has a role in the fight against corruption.
Bawumia revealed that digitization of the Ghanaian economy through ports, address system, the Ghana card, DVLA, GRA, Ghana Gov. platforms etc has assisted in fighting corruption in the corruption in the country.
Also, the Vice President said monies are pumped to state agencies like special prosecutor, CHRAJ and others to fight corruption.
Bawumia further quoted that, “there is so much economics embedded in this scripture which is telling us not to invest in flesh through corruption. We know that the flesh will eventually rot when you die, so if you are an investor will you invest in something that will eventually rot?”
I think all Bawumia is saying about this digitization and fighting corruption in the country are lies. Take a look at my reason.
During the talk of the Vice President, no figures were provided to show that digitization is really helping in corruption fight. Before I will be confused to accept this, Dr. Bawumia must provide the citizens with information and statistics proving how corruption has helped. For example: in last year, money lost at DVLA is GHS 50,000 and this year has reduced to GHS 20,00. He must be factual because their words are always misleading. We don’t trust them anymore.
