Chris Hughton, a former Premier League manager and Republic of Ireland international, is expected to be named the new head coach of the Ghana Black Stars after the Ghana Football Association (GFA) terminated Milovan Rajevac’s contract following the black stars’ poor AFCON performance.
The 63-year-old professional left back, who spent the majority of his playing career with Tottenham Hotspurs, has been jobless since being fired by EFL Championship side Nottingham Forest last September.
Hughton has been tipped to accept his first role as head coach of a national team after coaching for Spurs, Newcastle United, Norwich City, and Brighton. He served as the assistant manager for the Republic of Ireland for two years, the country he represented in the 1994 World Cup as a player.
According to Muftawu Nabila Abdulai, a Ghanaian journalist, Hughton, who was born in London to a Ghanaian father and an Irish mother, will have the opportunity to represent his father’s country. Borussia Dortmund assistant coach Otto Addo, Aston Villa youth coach George Boateng, and former Black Stars assistant coach Ibrahim Tanko have all been connected to the vacant coaching position he made this revelations in his tweeter handle on the January 28 2022.
Hughtons most notable achievements in football management include Newcastle United’s promotion to the Premier League in 2010 and Brighton’s promotion to the Premier League in 2017. Qualifying for the World Cup finals and guiding the African nation in the world’s largest football exhibition will undoubtedly be the pinnacle of his coaching career thus far.
