Barcelona have made their move in the January transfer window, Xavi will be looking to bolster his squad to make them finish in a comfortable position this season. Barcelona confirmed the signing of Adama Traoré from Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan with option to buy [not mandatory] for €30m plus bonuses. Barcelona will cover 100% of the salary until June.
Hopefully, he delivers at his best for Barcelona in the next months for Xavi to recruit him permanently. Adama Traore played for Barcelona as a young star, he saw few playing time and had to leave for England. He played with Wolverhampton Wanderers in most of his professional career and has played a major role in their past seasons, their first season after they were promoted from the English Championship.
Xavi now has the squad depth that would see his team finish in top four spot this season as they might have lost all hopes of winning the league title. Players like Ansu Fati and Memphis Depay are currently out of the squad, Xavi brought Traoré in to fill those gaps. With Philippe Coutinho on loan at Aston Villa, Barcelona needed another player in attack as they were already running out of options and using their academy stars.
Adama Traoré has a lot to do at Barcelona, he’ll have to adapt to their playing style and play more as an attacking midfielder. He’s currently the best dribbler in the world and has completely the most take ons this season, La Liga defenders should know what he’s capable of doing. Fitting into Barcelona’s tactics shouldn’t be a problem for Adama Traoré as it’s almost similar to that of the Spanish national team.
Adama Traoré has scored just one goal in all competitions this season and that is more a problem at all. His contribution in front of goal is what Barcelona needs at the moment, they’ve lacked that creativity in the opposition’s half of the pitch. Hopefully, Traoré brings something different to this Barcelona’s side.
