A serious accident involving multiple vehicles has left many in critical condition. The accident which happened at the Apollo junction in Takoradi involves three cars. A private vehicle with registration number, WR-6-15, a minibus with registration number, GW-8966-19, and a white pickup with registration number, GT-9378-16.
The Appollo junction in Takoradi is a busy point for vehicles from Takoradi, Tarkwa, Anaji, and the Appollo community. Over the years, traffic lights have been installed on the intersection to enable drivers to abide by the rules on the road, however, there have been many instances where the traffic installed has refused to work. When it happens, it is either drivers apply common sense in using the intersection or the report to direct traffic. But it appears none of the above was working and that triggered the accident.

The private vehicle was moving from the direction of Appollo whilst the minibus was moving from Takoradi to Tarkwa. Due to a misunderstanding on who to use the road first, the pickup which was also coming from Anaji on top speed also crossed the two vehicles causing multiple crashes.
The pickup vehicle run over the private car causing the driver and other passengers to sustain serious degrees of injuries. The private car which was seriously affected by the accident has been damaged beyond repairs. The mini-bus on the other hand was not seriously affected.
The driver and other passengers came out of the accident unhurt and a similar situation happened to those who were in the white pickup vehicle. The over five passengers who sustained injuries have been transported to the hospital for medical attention whilst the police have officially begun investigations to establish the real cause of the accident.
An accident of such nature could have easily been avoided if all the drivers were vigilant. If they had taken the road safety regulations seriously, they could have safely moved to their destinations without getting injured.
