MP Irungu Kangata Reacts to Raila’s Mega Rally in Murang’a

On Saturday, ODM Party boss Raila Odinga led his Azimio la Umoja brigade to Muranga county, where he held a mega rally at Ihura Stadium in Fort Fall.

It is a rally that was largely attended by Mt Kenya leaders allied to the handshake team. The field was painted with Azimio’s blue and Jubilee party red colours.

However, While Deputy President William Ruto’s camp was busy in Kirinyaga with his Kenya Kwanza Alliance friends, Murang’a county Senator Irungu Kangata took time to weigh in on Azimio’s meeting going on in his county.

Taking to his Twitter page, Irungu laughed off the meeting, saying it was poorly attended. The senator posted a photo of the poorly attended event, claiming they do not throw stones in Murang’a but rather vote with their feet.

This comes amid videos being posted online of people allegedly leaving Raila’s meeting in large numbers.

In the video shared by Dennis Itumbi, a number of supporters clad in Jubilee T-shirts could be seen exiting the stadium with security forced to stop a number of them who were trying to leave. Here is the video link.

However, photos shared from the Ihuru stadium by Raila allies depicted a different picture of a venue full of supporters. This contradicted Irungu’s statement.
