Ghanaians Reacts To What Yayra Koku Said About E- Levy

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) activist, Yayra Koku said, any person who will say that, the tax on electronic transactions (E- levy) would be used to create more jobs for the youth, construct roads and so on is a trained confidence trickster.

According to Yayra Koku, this is because, the government is projecting a total revenue of one hundred and five billion Ghana CEDI’s (GH¢105 B) the tax on electronic transactions (E- levy) and in the government’s 2022 budget, an amount of forty-six billion Ghana CEDI’s (GH¢46 B) would be used to service our debt which is interest and amortisation.

Also, thirty- five point eight billion Ghana CEDI’s (GH¢ 35.8 B) would be used for public sector wages and twenty- six billion Ghana CEDI’s (GH¢26 B) for statutory funds.

Yayra Koku said, if the amounts of money on interest and amortisation, public sector wages and statutory funds are being calculated, the total amount will be one hundred and seven point eight billion Ghana CEDI’s (GH¢ 107.8 B) of which it has exceeded the projected revenue target.

Yayra Koku ended that, Capital expenditure is excluded in the (GH¢ 107.8 B) so where will the government get money for YouStart, Agenda 111, Road infrastructure and so on.
