A Musician and Political Activist, Kwame A. Plus have described the E-levy introduced by the Nana Addo-led government as just a lazy way to make money and chop. The outspoken Political Activist mentioned that if the government needs more money to undertake developmental projects, it’s not the E-Levy.

A Plus was speaking on TV3 New Day today while addressing several issues in the ruling New Patriotic Party’s government. When he was commenting on the controversial E-levy, A Plus said there are too many ways the government can make more revenue to undertake any developmental projects and so they should look at those ways and stop the E-levy.

“They know where to find the money. These oil marketing companies owe government over 600 million cedis, so why are they not going after them? There are too many ways of generating income for this country which includes ensuring that state institutions are not just wasting money. We can survive in Ghana if we don’t pay taxes because of the natural resources we have.” A Plus told TV3 today.

Moving on, he added that he’s completely against E-Levy because it’s just a way for the government to make more money and misuse it rather than using it for the right purpose. He mentioned that the E-Levy will not help the ordinary Ghanaian and so the government should drop it and stop defending.

“I am against E-Levy and I’ve been against every levy. I think that they just come and find too many ways to make money and even fail to use the money for the intended purpose but to waste it. That’s why I am saying it’s just the government’s lazy way to make money and chop.” A Plus added.

Do you also think the E-Levy is just a way for the government to make money and chop?

Should the E-Levy be passed when the rate reduces?
