Students at Kpandai Nursing and Midwifery school in the Savannah region are suffering from a lack of water in the school. A gallon of water is being sold to them at 1 Ghana cedi. Onenkfnthe students speaking with reporters said that buying water is the better alternative for them now else they will have to go to the Oti river to fetch water.
Before getting to the Oti river, they will climb a hill before getting there. With that, they will be late for classes all the time and be tired as well. Therefore buying water is much safer for them. The principal of the school, Madam Alice Awuntama added that the lack of water in the school has been a problem since school began.
She said they had a borehole but it is not functioning anymore. Their only alternative now is to pump water from the river and they would need lots of funds for that project. She pleaded with the government and NGO’s to come to their aid.
