Apiatse: Lady Drinks Chilled Beer After Efforts To Search For Her Gold Failed

There is always a time to cry and a time to laugh. Despite all the pain people go through sometimes, there are moments they also make fun of themselves. Residents of Apiatse in the Prestea Huni Valley municipality of the Western Region have been going through pain in the past few days. All their properties have vanished in the twinkle of an eye through an explosion that occurred in the community. Most of them have nothing to hold to or call their own.

Akosua Mary, as she is affectionately called is an illegal miner who has been living in the community for many years. The twenty-nine-year-old lady sometimes goes to the mining site to dig for gold. Over the years, she has been able to make some money through the sales of gold. She has as well turned her room into a mini bank where she saves some of her money. She had one pound of Gold and an amount of GHC 1,500.

After the explosion, everything came down and since she was out of town, she decided to return and begin searching. The searching began after a few days, her main focus was to get back her gold and GHC 1,500. She went back to the location where her house was sitting and spent many hours searching but she, unfortunately, could not find any. Her money and gold were all gone.

She could not cry, neither could she complain to anyone about her missing gold and money. Her only consolation was a chilled beer, Akosua Mary started moving around the exploded community with the beer in her hand. She kept drinking the beer to clear her worries. The horror-stricken lady indicated that she was taking the beer to clear all her worries because the pain was becoming unbearable. But she will have to deal with the issue because neither her gold nor money would be found.

The entire Apiatse community has been declared a security zone. Over four hundred residents in the community have been displaced after an explosion which has since been described as historic. Now, the national disaster management has extended the rescue mission because many residents are complaining about their missing relatives. Most of the residents are now resting at the premises of a church at Bogoso whilst efforts are being made to construct a new community for them.
