     On Onua TV’s “Onua Maakye” show this morning, Popular Journalist Captain Smart has warned MTN-Ghana that, there is a chance they will lose more than 100,000 customers if the E-levy bill is accepted.
    MTN-GH is by far the telecommunication network with the highest number of customers in the country and if what Captain Smart has predicted should happen, it will be a very big blow.
    The E-levy is a 1.75% tax the government is planning to put on electronic transactions that involves 100 cedis or more. The bill was included in the 2022 budget and was sent to parliament last year for approval but the fight in parliament then didn’t allow that.
  After Parliament resumes this year, the issue of the E-levy is expected to be brought up again for approval. Now Captain smart is warning MTN that the E- levy is going to have a huge negative impact on them and for that matter they should try and oppose it.
