It appears armed robbers and other criminals have no boundaries to where they operate. Whenever they think there is a slight opportunity, they strike and make away with money and other properties. Over the years, armed robbers have taken their operations to the house of God making away with properties and money.
Some fearless robbers have stormed the Assemblies of God Church at Assorko Essaman in the Shama District of the Western Region and made away with several properties. The Head Pastor of the church, Reverend Richard Ato Eshun confirmed in an interview with Connect FM monitored by BeaNana that they reported to church and started having their usual meetings. Since it was not a normal Sunday church service, they decided to use one of the offices for the meeting.
A few minutes later, one of the church members run to them and started complaining about how robbers have been able to ransack the whole place. The elders quickly moved to the main auditorium and realized that almost every property of the church has been stolen. The items are worth GHC 13,000. They included drums, mixtures, organs, amplifiers, and many others.
The robbers broke the back door of the church whilst every one was asleep and embarked on their operation. The head pastor adds that they struggled to open the door because bloodstains were seen at the premises of the church.
According to the head pastor, they are heartbroken at the activities of the robbers because they have just started furnishing their branch. He adds that similar activities happened at the church a few years ago. Again, robbers ransacked the place and made away with several church properties. Apart from the pastor, other church members who are lost about the robbery have started raining curses on the robbers. They have sent signals that it shall never be well with them and that they will soon be forced to return the stolen items.
The Shama District Police Command has taken over the issue and investigations have officially begun. Signals have been sent to everyone to look out for persons who might be selling church instruments. When such persons approach with the items, the nearest police station must be informed for swift action to be taken.
