After suffering in the hands of Comoros in the ongoing 2021 AFCON in Cameroon, Ghanaians have become so furious over the unjustifiable poor performance displayed by the Black Stars in this year’s tournament. Inarguably, some have already concluded unapologetically that this is the worst squad or team Ghana has ever had, amidst all the support they received before, and during the competition in Cameroon. It appears that all the necessary empowerment tools required by them to cushion their performance in the tournament were made available to them, but decided to come home early when their colleagues, Nigeria and Egypt are busily progressing to the next stage, with all confidence and patriotism.
However, the President of Ghana Football Association is of a different opinion. According to Kurt Okraku, the current Black Stars Team tops all the teams we have had in the history of this country’s football journey. He continues to justify that he is even marvelled at the quality of the players who played at the tournament. Mr. Okraku still believes in his boys, and thinks that although they could not qualify to the next level of the competition, their quality should be underestimated!
He confidently said: “The players we took to AFCON are the best we have.” But is it really true?
Meanwhile, Ghanaians on social media (Facebook to be precise) are getting ‘raw’ on the GFA president; and below are some of their comments:
Whose since are you at the moment – the GFA president or Facebook users, or perhaps you have a neutral stance in this argument? It is so obvious that many fans are losing interest in the current Black Stars team, however, nothing good would possibly unfold in the near future if we need to take a collaborative effort to reverse this situation. There is more room for improvement so we need to critically evaluate the whole problem, and show some people the exit, in order to make progress in the future!
