The New Patriotic Party (NPP), Member of Parliament for NSAWAM/ADOAGYIRI Constituency in the Eastern Region, Honorable Frank Annoh-Dompreh has responded to the Minority’s claims, that second Deputy Speaker (the Independent Member of Parliament for Fomena); Honorable Andrew Asiamah Amoako, has joined the Majority caucus in parliament.
Honorable Frank Annoh-Dompreh, who is also the Majority Chief Whip the eight parliament of Ghana, has described the Minority National Democratic Congress (NDC’s) claims as baseless, and that they need to provide evidence for their claims.
Speaking on Citi News, Honorable Annoh-Dompreh said that, “For me it is a wild allegation. It cannot be proven. It is much ado about nothing. It is a wild goose chase. They should just forget about it. It will not go anywhere. I don’t know how they are going to prove their case, but it will be an interesting time to listen to them. Let’s see how it goes. If they have a case, they should prove it”.
The Minority group on the other hand has said that, they have gathered evidences to prove, that the independent MP for Fomena constituency; Honorable Andrew Asiamah Amoako, has joined the Majority caucus in parliament rather than merely doing business with them.
After a turbulent 2021 for the Members of Parliaments which began and ended in a brawl on the floor, Honorable Annoh-Dompreh is hopeful of more dialogue with the Minority ahead of Parliament’s next session.
According to him, he has been in touch with the Honorable Muntaka Mubarak, Minority Chief Whip, on ensuring more cordial relationships in the floor of Parliament.
Honorable Annoh-Dompreh further revealed that, “We spoke as brothers, and I know we will find and be able to chart a good path and common path that we can work to. Things happened, and tense moments are always there in these exchanges, but I am still confident that we will be able to find a common path”.
The Minority NDC caucus believes that, Honorable Andrew Asiamah Amoako, the Independent Candidate for Formena Constituency, has joined the Majority caucus in parliament which is unconstitutional.
