What Happened To The Promise You Made To Me?: Mother Cries On The Grave Of Her Son Sadly Killed

It was a difficult and heartbreaking moment in the community of Akorabokrom in the Atwima Mponia District of the Ashanti Region when a mother had no other option than to shed uncontrollable tears following the sad killing of her son. The entire community was clad in all red and black outfits to signal to funeral and danger, they have lost about five members of the community in a mob action where some residents took the laws into their hands and committed mob justice. The young boys were whipped until they could no longer breathe anymore.

It would be recalled some five young men were killed at Nyinawusu in the same district after the angry mob took them for armed robbers in December 2021. The issue attracted national interest with many calling for the laws to bite hard at the perpetrators of the crime. 

It was finally time to say goodbye to one of them who hailed from Akorabokrom. Their pictures were printed for many who did not know them to catch a glimpse of the kind of persons they were. Curses and incantations became the order of the day at the cemetery since the blood of a sheep was spilled on the grave. They asked the soul of the deceased to revenge the death by tormenting all the killers.

One person who could not hold on to her tears was the mother of a seventeen-year-old young man who was also killed on the day. Her son had made several promises to her to the extent that he was working hard to become a pillar of the family but death has ended everything. The promises he made to her have all come to a halt. She rained curses and called on the security agencies to ensure the perpetrators of the crime are punished according to the laws of the country.

In the meantime, some youth in the area have expressed their anger at the slow pace of investigations being conducted into the case. They have promised to take the laws into their hands if the police refuse to ensure justice prevails as soon as possible. Even though the police have communicated that five persons have been arrested in the case, the angry youth believe justice might not be served. Their leader, Agyekum Moses was optimistic that the young men who were killed cannot be armed robbers and it is about time the truth is revealed.
