‘I will kill him’ – 42-year-old hunter threatens his landlord after catching him with his wife

It was a fight for one to die when residents of Abomaa, a suburb of Tepa, heard three warning shots this dawn. You move from the room, you are a dead man. Stay there, any attempt to move, your family will be picking your dead body. I will kill you, and bury you alive today if you move an inch from the bed, Alhassan Osamani said in anger after firing three warning shots into the air.

Alhassan had just caught his wife with his landlord when anger took over him to give warning shots. Residents had thought a robbery scene was about to go on when the gunshots came consecutively. 

Acheampomaa Veronica, a tenant in the Agya Dompre house, was scared to the core when she heard the warning shots. The husband of Acheampomaa, Lalus Agyemang, could not even open his gate after his wife woke him up to witness the warning shot until Alhassan called his name.

Lalus! Lalus!! Lalus!!! Come out it’s me Alha, come out my brother. I have caught your landlord, Alhassan said on top of his voice after giving three wanting shots to threaten Agya Dompre. Alha! Is that you, Lalus replied. My brother is me, come and see, Alhassan said to his next-door neighbour, Lalus Agyeman.

Lalus in his account to the Tepa Divisional Police command explained that he was sacred when his wife woke him up after the first warning shot, but he became alright when Alhassan called him. I wouldn’t have opened my gate if Alhassan hasn’t used Alha in responding to me.

It’s a nickname I gave him and when he used that name, I knew it was him. He can’t kill anyone and was just angry when he saw the man in his room. He is a hunter and can’t kill a human being. The only thing he can kill is an animal and that is what he is good at.

If he wanted to kill him, he wouldn’t have called on me first, Lalus Agyeman said to the police in defence of Alhassan. Alhassan was taken to the Tepa police station for the possession of an unregistered hunting weapon and threatening to kill his landlord, Agya Dompre.

Stephen Dompre also known in Abomaa as Agya Dompre, was inside Alhassan’s room with no shirt on when Alhassan barged on them after his hunting gun. Alhassan, resting at the Tepa police cells, had returned home after an unsuccessful hunting but wasn’t lucky as his wife was in bed with his landlord.

You take my rent and still take my wife, I will kill him. When he returns back to earth, he would never go near anyone’s wife. He must die and nothing will stop me from killing him, Alhassan repeatedly said even after his arrest.

Agya Dompre in sober, could not speak a word or defend himself after he was caught with Alhassan’s wife. The case is still at the police station but Agya Dompre will not be charged since there isn’t any law that says one shouldn’t sleep with one’s wife and neither will Alhassan’s wife, Zaliatu be charged for sleeping with her landlord since there isn’t any law against her actions.  

Alhassan made a mistake in threatening to kill the landlord and we hope he will calm down so we can seek bail for him. Though the gun hasn’t been registered but it is a hunting gun that he has been using for over two years now. We hope the police will use his good hunting records to great him bail, Lalus stated at the Tepa Police station.
