‘Both were arrested for causing public nuisance’ – Two in trouble for allegedly fighting over a man

Alice Awuah, a resident of Tema Community 18 was in her house when she heard loud shouts coming from the outside. With the help of her kitchen windows, she saw two women standing in the driveway of the Bamho Estate getting ready to fight.

Standing on the left, Whitney Benson and right, Christiana Kukuwaa Adusei, were about to engage in a public battle in the middle of the Bamho Estate driveway when Dr Alice Awuah phoned the community 18 police. The two women who were arrested at 8:30 this morning, were about to fight over a married woman, the police hinted. 

Christiana Kukuwaa Adusei, the wife of one Opoku Adusei, was about to beat Whitney Benson for allegedly sleeping with her husband. Whitney who has rejected all claims against her, blamed Christiana for coming over to the estate to start a fight with her for no reason. 

I was on my way to work when she met me in the middle of the pavement. Looking at her posture, she had been standing there waiting for me so I tried to walk over the right side of the pavement and she climbed there, prepared to fight me over something I knew nothing about. 

She accused me of sleeping her husband but that it is untrue because the husband is just a client, Whitney said in her defence. Christiana, who was given bail at 1 PM today, had accused Whitney of driving her husband’s car and that was how she knew she was sleeping with the husband. 

I caught her driving my husband’s car on last week Thursday, 6 January 2022, and took the car from her, Christiana said. Christiana had blamed Whitney for driving a car belonging to the husband, but the husband, Opoku Adusei who secured the bail for his wife this afternoon, defended Whitney and rather accused her wife of overreacting. The car was at the mechanic shop, and Whitney was delivering the car to me at my work. 

Whitney is the Manager of the Simel Auto Fitting Shop and was bringing me the car to say thank you because I chose their shop to fix the car instead of others. There is nothing between me and her, it is just a false alarm from my wife, Mr Opoku Adusei, 52, said after apologising to Whitney Benson at the police station. 

Though both women had been granted bail but the case hasn’t been dropped and won’t be dropped until they are in court. Both were arrested for causing a public nuisance and they will be tried in court for that, Officer Banesh Hayford said. 

The two will be arraigned before a court on Monday 17 January 2022 for making unnecessary noise at the Bamho Estate this morning.
