Benjamin Kesse – MCE

The Tarkwa Divisional Police Commander Chief Superintendent George Kumah and the Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Benjamin Kesse appears to be at each other’s throat over the alleged police brutality of a young man in the community.

The Tarkwa Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent George Kumah has expressed worry about the circumstances leading to the alleged brutality of the young man known as Yaw Atta at Dompim Pepesa in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality of the Western Region.

Information available indicates that Yaw Atta, who is a staff at a community information radio in the area was invited to the police station after he used his medium to refer to the Police Commander as ‘Sasabronsam’ (Satan). Information released by the Police Commander indicates, Yaw Atta and another unknown person made him their topic for the day and indicated that he (the police commander) was born by ‘Sasabronsam’ (satan). They are also said to have indicated that the police commander is parading himself in the community as if he was a royal.

Yaw Atta – Victim

The situation alarmed the police commander who picked the young man to the station for questioning. The young man, Yaw Atta in an interview with Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson on Connect FM’s Omanbapa morning show monitored by BeaNana indicated that he was subjected to severe beatings whilst in the custody of the police for calling the commander Sasabronsam. The situation according to him has rendered him paralyzed.

In response, the Police commander, Chief Superintendent George Kumah told Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson that the victim is not being truthful. He says, the young man is being influenced by the Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Benjamin Kesse to damage his hard-earned reputation. According to him, there is a grand scheme by the MCE to silence him from his job but that will never happen. He is therefore poised in ensuring a peaceful atmosphere in the community without any interference. He further indicates that there have been several attempts to concoct stories against his reputation but that has refused to bring him down.

In the meantime, the MCE, Mr. Benjamin Kesse has denied all the allegations by the police commander. According to him, the commander has made Yaw Atta a target in the community for no reason and as a result, he finds fault in everything he does. He believes that could be the reason why he subjected the young man to severe beatings without any justification.
