The Ghana Medical Association (GMA), has also reacted to the recent petition presented to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, by The Concerned Ghanaian Doctors’.
According to the Ghana Medical Association, the contents of the petition by the the doctors, against the vaccine roll-out filed by some 11 medical doctors in the country, as misleading and also not based on any scientific data.
The Ghana Medical Association in their statement; issued on Wednesday January 12, 2022, stated that,“The GMA finds the contents of the petition misleading, unfortunate and not based on available local and international scientific data”.
Some doctors in Ghana; on Monday, January 10, 2022, petitioned President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to issue a directive for the nationwide vaccine roll-out in the fight against the corona virus pandemic to pause.
The Concerned Ghanaian Doctors’, in their petition cited how some countries like Israel and the United Kingdom (UK), are still battling with the corona virus pandemic, despite a high vaccination rate of their respective countries.
According to them, “These countries have very high vaccination rates, currently deploying booster programmes, yet they are struggling to get the virus under control especially with these new variants”.
The concern doctors further stated that, “It doesn’t take a genius to recognize the financial benefit of pharmaceutical companies in demonising potential early, effective treatments. If there is safe, effective, affordable, freely available early treatment for Covid-19, vaccines are no longer a priority”
