The Black Stars began this year’s African Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign on a low key when they lost 0-1 to their Moroccan counterparts yesterday in a Group C fixture at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo, Yaoundé.

The Ghanaians failed to shrug off the underdog tag and allowed the Atlas Lions to roar to their advantage with few minutes remaining.

It was Soufiane Buofal’s goal that separated the two sides.

The only goal stirred Milovan Rajevac to throw four men into the game at a goal.

The drastic change did little to reverse the setback.

Rather, it allowed the North Africans to double their efforts, which nearly doubled their advantage but for goalkeeper Joseph Walacot’s timely intervention.

Kamal Deen before his substitution did some brilliant rans on the flanks but his efforts yielded no result.

Ghana next face Gabon this Friday.
