A Ghanaian Dentist at the Sunyani Regional Hospital, Dr. Nana Yaa Dampare, has advised the general public against using their teeth to open bottle lids, in order to avoid getting fractured teeth, and also other unpleasant dental conditions.
According to Dr. Dampare, the use of the teeth to open bottle lid, could cause injury to the teeth…adding that, it is important that, all people; including children visit the dentists at least twice in a year, to undergo dental examination, and if possible do some problem solving works on the teeth.
She also revealed that, the World Health Organization’s (WHO), statistics has indicated, “that the oral cavities were very common with people; adding that, between 60 to 90 per cent of school children and nearly 100 percent of adults, have at least one dental caries (tooth decay), while between 15 to 25 per cent of adults aged 35 to 44 have severe gum diseases”.
Speaking on the topic; “Dental Hygiene”, at the Ladies Department meeting of the Living Grace Ministries International at Berlin-Top, a suburb at Fiapre in the Sunyani West Municipality of the Bono Region, Dr. Dampare advised that, persons who experience symptoms of pains during chewing, biting; or sudden sensitivity to hot or cold beverages, fractured teeth and frequent dry mouth must see a dentist immediately for a professional attention.
Madam Dampare again urged the public to stop the habit of using objects to remove unwanted materials from the teeth; because according her, that could lead sores and bacteria infections to the gum.
