Meet The First Ever Breakthrough In The Year 2022

As the popular surgeon’s saying goes; ‘it is better to open and see, than to wait and see’, so is the good news currently in Maryland.

For the first time in history, Surgeons in Maryland USA, have successfully implanted a human, with a genetically modified pig’s heart, without immediate rejection by the patient’s body. 

According to doctors, the operation which took place on Friday, 7 January 2022, at the University of Maryland Medical School, “Holds Hope For Organ Crisis”. 

The 57 year old patient, Mr. David Bennett, had been deemed ineligible for human transplant — a decision that is often taken when the recipient has underlying health problems.

Mr. Bennett who has spent several months on a heart-lung bypass machine, is currently being monitored to determine how the newly implanted organ, will performs; and according to doctors, he is recovering after the operation.

According to him,”It was either do this transplant or die. I want to live. I know it’s a shot in the dark, but it’s my last choice, I look forward to getting out of bed after I recover”.

The breakthrough; though brings surgeons around the world a step closer to solving human organ shortages, one question still remains…how sustainable is this good news?
